A study of Shiratani, the forest that inspired Ghibli’s “Princess Mononoke”

In the summer of 2019, I used my Craig Herst scholarship to travel to Yakushima, Japan to study the moss-covered forest that inspired Miyazaki’s “Princess Mononoke” animated movie. Below are some watercolor studies from the trip.
